“Experiencing the love and life of Christ through vibrant and life changing communities and creative partnerships.”
Sunday’s service was thwarted with electronic issues but eventually things worked. Rev Ann’s message that faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain what we do not see (Hebrews Ch 11 V1) – a bit like our electronics. We have many stories in the Bible about faith. Matthew, Mark and Luke write about faith and miracles performed. Different versions of faith emerge in the Bible. In Hebrews faith is being sure what we hope for so the writer wants us to grasp the meaning; it turns hope into assurance, from the unseen to the seen. The writer asks the people to remember Abraham and Sarah who stepped out in faith, following call. They did not know where they were going but they saw the unseen. Noah is the same. He was asked to build the ark but he too stepped out in faith because he trusted in something unseen. Moses was another person who was called to lead people from Israel. He had no idea where he was going but he believed something promised was waiting. Refugees taking boats to a place they see as a refuge are similar. They see a vision of another world. Pilgrimages are often a journey of hardship – just like that described by Rev. Ann when she told the Friendship Group about her Camino Walk. Walking in the way of Christ is not always easy but wee are pilgrim people – journeying in faith.
A volunteer is required to be in charge of this year’s Christmas Bowl Appeal and the Target Christmas Appeal. Please see Rev. Ann.
