“Experiencing the love and life of Christ through vibrant and life changing communities and creative partnerships.”
Rev Ann Simons spoke about the busy week we have had in the church and the reading from Timothy where Paul is reviewing his life’s journey. It’s a reflection on life – someone at the end of their journey. A key feature of a funeral is the eulogy with much thought going in to presentation. Reflecting on the Timothy reading we get a sense of what Paul’s eulogy would have been. Timothy is told to remain steadfast and carry on. We tend to put off difficult conversations on death and life’s end but we do long for a way to communicate with those we love. Paul uses a metaphor – of a race – for his life. There were many hurdles and pitfalls throughout his life. It was a race where he poured his upmost effort. Paul is encouraging Timothy to remain faithful. Paul affirms that everyone is to meet God no matter what his life has been. Do not lose hope, run the race and fight the good fight.
Help please…Glynis is training as a volunteer speaker for Christmas Bowl Appeal but doesn’t drive. During November and December she is going to a number of churches. Let her know if you can be a driver and supporter.
Unfortunately the application for money for the hearing loop was not successful. We will have to look for other funding. Maybe our Wedding Breakfast on November 13th might raise some money. Do you still have your wedding dress or wedding photos which we can display? Come and have some fun with us at this late afternoon event.
Homework Hub is held each Tuesday 3.30 – 5.30pm. You are welcome to drop in at any time to assist with the meal or do some reading with the children. Kirsty Simons is organising this and really could do with some help. Please remember you will need a Working With Children Check. See Olive for assistance with this. The Safe Mothers, Safe Children program is also operating with Martha Mai leading this.
Do you have a favourite hymn? Let Bruce Chappell know for the Hymn service on October 30th.
Confirmation service for our young people is 6th November. Expect some amazing music.
Messy Church meets on Saturdays from 5.00 – 7.00pm. Next date is November 19th.
Donation jars are in the foyer for “Fellowship of the Least Coin”, “4Cs Combined Christian Churches” who support people locally and “Lexi Waters”. Also a tin for Asylum Seekers. If you have spare coins please consider these containers.
Pew sheet information can be left in the folder in the kitchen by Thursday pm, phoned to her 0407506662 or missglynis@bigpond.com
